There are several ways to choose a float:
1. Choose a float according to the fishing method
① Floating fishing
When fishing by float, the total weight of lead weights, hooks, and baits in the water should be less than the buoyancy of the float. Generally, a spherical float or a vertical float with a thicker and shorter body is selected. Some fishermen temporarily change to floating fishing in the fishing ground. Wearing a piece of foam plastic on the column float can also solve the problem.
② Bottom fishing
When bottom fishing, the total gravity of the lead sinker and bait used for float fishing in the water is equal to the buoyancy of the float. If fishing in deep water, a float with higher buoyancy and a larger lead sinker should be used to ensure that the bait can quickly fall to the bottom after entering the water, in order to prevent small fish in the middle and upper layers from biting the bait. If the wind is strong during fishing, a wind float with a slender top and an empty ball at the bottom of the float or a horizontal float can be used.
2. Choose a float according to its shape
① Circular float
Circular floats are usually used in calm waters because they are not easily affected by water currents and can stably float on the surface of the water. This shape of float is suitable for fishing situations that require high stability of the float.
② Slender shaped float
Slender shaped floats are commonly used for fishing in deep water or turbulent currents, as they can more easily convey the movement of the underwater hook and facilitate observation of the fish biting the hook.
③ Elliptical float
Elliptical float is a versatile float shape that is suitable for relatively flat water areas and can also convey bottom conditions to a certain extent.
